Roundtable on Quality and Regulation in Services for People with Intellectual Disabilities

Aims: To share knowledge about regulation of intellectual disability service systems in different countries and consider key questions:
- What is regulation?
- What is its purpose in service systems and what problems does it aim to solve?
- Does regulation achieve its intended outcomes?
- What evidence is there about the types of regulation that work well and those that don’t?
- What are the unintended consequences of regulation?
- How do regulatory structures and approaches differ between countries?
- What are the key knowledge gaps?
The Roundtable is open to all interested researchers. The Roundtable builds on the foundations set by the CPP 2025/26 webinar series [recordings available https://iassidd.org/webinar-series/ but you must be logged in as an IASSIDD member]. It aims to develop an international collaborative project about service quality and regulation to tackle questions about regulation; what works and why, and develop a principles/position statement for IASSIDD.
Format
- 4 facilitated sessions of approx. 45 mins each
- Ten minute presentations of pre circulated short papers to introduce each topic
